and..a new beginning?
Somehow, I seem to be taking this ending pretty well. I mean, I still do think about her and what could have been, but at least I don't see myself wallowing in sadness.
Every dark cloud has a silver lining. It could actually be because of this incident that I could be more aware of others around me, and maybe giving myself a chance with others.
However much I thought she and I could be great together, I could have just been blinded. There were really almost insurmountable barriers to overcome, personality traits that probably wouldn't match, etc. Thinking back now from a vantage point, it really seems that it would be hard for us to stay together. For example, I love sports and she doesn't. In the end, if we did get together, I'd probably have to make a lot of sacrifices that I may not entirely be happy with. With her dedication to her studies as well, we'd probably be nowhere close to a relationship, something like a relationship in name only.
On a more positive note, I met this girl from my physiotherapy again at the office. As in, she's now working in the same building after graduating from NUS. We had lost contact after she stopped going for physio, but it's a pleasant surprise to see her again after several months. Well, this happened a few weeks ago. The Friday that I met Serine, I saw her again at the restaurant that we were dining in. She was with her colleagues. Somehow, I just feel some natural affinity with her. Maybe because she plays soccer too and the same position as me (left midfield). Well, that Friday I was just feeling so, well I don't really know how to say, but I just needed to get things off my chest, so I told her about what happened with Serine. The details followed the following week. She also invited me to play frisbee with her brother and friends. I did take her up on that two Saturdays ago and I had lots of fun. Last Saturday was soccer at NUS and I joined her after alumni prac. Haha. It's always great fun when you know someone who organises stuff and invites you for it.
